Biography

Born in 1944, Rui Simões studied Film and TV Directing at IAD – Institut des Arts de Diffusion, in Brussels, Belgium. There he worked as a set photographer. Back to Portugal in 1974, would come to direct the iconic documentaries of the post-25th April revolution, “Deus, Pátria, Autoridade” and “Bom Povo Português “. In 1986 sets up Real Ficção, the Film Production company through which he came to develop his work as a documentarist deeply connected to social issues and the arts, as well as supporting several young filmmakers.
