Biography
Bruno Simões is a Barcelona based animator and filmmaker. A after graduating in Graphic & Multimedia Design, he worked in the advertising industry for a few years at EuroRSCG in Lisbon (now known as Havas Worldwide). In 2004 Bruno moves to Barcelona to do his Masters Degree in Computer Animation. During this time, Bruno completes two animated short films, ‘Neptune’ and ‘Triangular’, which were screened in several dfferent festivals around the world.
In 2006 Bruno moves to London to join the Moving Picture Company, where he gets to work closely with established directors such as Ridley Scott, Sam Mendes or Marc Forster designing action sequences for high profile films such as ‘Skyfall’, ‘Prometheus’, ‘World War Z’, ‘X-Men: First Class’, or the final four movies in the ‘Harry Potter’ series, amongst others. While in London Bruno also directed ‘Sugar Girl’, an independent short film.
In 2011 Bruno moves to New York City to join Blue Sky Studios, where once again he gets to work on large scale movies, only this time focusing on animated feature films. As a Senior Camera & Staging Artist, Bruno designed sequences for the films ‘Epic’, ‘Rio 2’, ‘Peanuts the Movie’ and ‘Ice Age 5’.
In 2015 Bruno moves back to Barcelona to work as an Animation Director. He has directed commissioned animated films for clients such as the United Nations, Ad Council, Polaroid, Lego, Nutella, or Southeastern Guide Dogs, which have been screened at prestigious animated festivals around the world, such as Annecy International Animated Film Festival, Anima Mundi, Manchester Animation Festival, Animac or Cinanima.
