Calling all film enthusiasts! The 14th edition of the NY Portuguese Short Film Festival arrives at New York (Lincoln Center) on July 2 at 7pm.

Immerse yourself into the world of Portuguese cinema with the latest short film masterpieces by talented directors and writers. From gripping fiction to mesmerizing animation and captivating documentaries, this festival is a unique platform showcasing Portugal’s cinematic brilliance.

NY Portuguese Short Film Festival 2024

The NY Portuguese Short Film Festival, produced by the Arte Institute, was the first Portuguese short film festival in the United States. It showcases the latest short film productions by Portuguese directors and writers, including fiction, animation, and documentary. The festival has been a unique and unprecedented showcase for the Portugal brand and contemporary Portuguese cinema, and has opened doors for new national filmmakers. In the past 13 editions, we have reached all continents, 24 countries, and 53 cities.

The films selected for this year’s showcase are:

About NY Portuguese Short Film Festival:
The NY Portuguese Short Film Festival (NYPSFF) is a Portuguese short film festival, happening in New York and Portugal. The NYPSFF (I Edition, June 2011), was the first Portuguese short film festival in the United States, and it was born from the need to show Portuguese contemporary cinema abroad and to showcase the best work of the new generation of young Portuguese filmmakers.

After the broad acceptance from the American public to the festival, Arte Institute has taken NYPSFF to 22 countries and 51 cities all around the world and has largely amplifying the universe Portuguese cinema viewers.  Among those countries are Brazil, United Kingdom, Angola, Australia, France, Poland, Mozambique, Germany, Canada, China, India, Romania, Croatia, Hungary, Thailand, Kenia, Czech Republic, Senegal, Equatorial Guinea, Cape Verde and South Africa.
