Biography

Maria Hespanhol studied at Soares dos Reis Art School, in Porto, and completed her training at the School of Arts at Porto Católica University. Before graduating she co-directed the short film “Felizes para Sempre” which won an Honorable Mention at the European Capital of Culture Festival – Odyssey of the Images. In 2003 moved to Barcelona where started working on advertising.

Since 2013 she’s living in Lisbon, developing several projects such as a documentary about Cinema and Architecture with Siza Vieira.

Also is working on editing a book from an original short story in association with the illustrator Ana Bossa that is in process of finalization and adaptation into a stop motion short animation film.

At this moment she has two short film on the festival circuits “Summerfest”, a small exercise about suspense and “Final Act” a story about a ballet dancer adapted from her own original short story.

Maria likes to explore different disciplines, including writing, editing and different kind of narrative and technics.
