Biography

Luísa Sequeira is a cultural producer. She studied journalism and specialized in directing documentaries, starting her career in Mozambique.
She worked on TV for ten years and in several TV projects, including Fotograma, dedicated to the promotion of cinema. Since 2010, she is the artistic director of the Shortcutz Porto. She organizes Super 9 Mobile Film Fest, exclusively dedicated to mobile film. Author and director of the film program “Porto sem Nó”, winner of the entertainment program category in the 2011 edition of Pilots Competitive Exhibition in Rio De Janeiro .In 2014 she co-directed the series “Motel Sama” for Canal Brasil. She directed the documentary “Women on the Stage”, a film about sex work, based on Paula Vogel’s play with Fernanda Lapa. She co-directed with the plastic artist Eduardo Sama the short film animation “Motel Sama”. Recently, she made a documentary about the iconoclastic Brazilian filmmaker Glauber Rocha and his involvement in the revolution of the 25th of April “The Carnations and the Rock.”
Currently, she is producing and directing several documentaries, such as “The New Portuguese Letters – A Story of the book” and directing a documentary about the first Portuguese filmmaker Bárbara Virginia.
